Milos Balık
The first meyhane of the Sığacık kale, Greek-taverna soul
A slow-food coastal village around a Genoese castle, anchored by a renowned producers' market.
Seferihisar is Turkey's first Cittaslow, and its coastal village of Sığacık embodies that ethos around a restored Genoese castle whose walls now enclose lived-in houses and a small marina. The big draw is the Saturday market inside and around the castle, where peninsula growers sell vegetables, herbs, olive oil and tangerines straight from the field. Fish restaurants line the harbour, and the pace is deliberately unhurried. It is the place to come for the producers' culture and a quiet, walkable seafront rather than nightlife.
