On Rossio square, Café Nicola traces its coffee-house lineage to the 18th century and took its current Art Deco form in 1929-35, a haunt of poets and writers including Bocage. Behind the landmark facade it still runs as a proper café-restaurant for bica, pastries and Portuguese plates. A Baixa classic to be used selectively for its room and history.
