Marina del Cantone, Nerano
Where spaghetti alla Nerano was invented, still on the same beach.
The De Simone deck over the sea where spaghetti alla Nerano reigns.
Built on a boulder jutting into the bay of Marina del Cantone, this third-generation De Simone trattoria has served the boat crowd since 1958. Vegetables come from the family's Punta Campanella plots and the fish is landed each morning by their own fisherman. The raw seafood and the spaghetti alla Nerano are pilgrimage dishes; Stanley Tucci put it on the map for an English-speaking audience.
Cult institution, reservations essential in season. Has rooms (Hotel Lo Scoglio). Seasonal: largely closed in winter.
