Open since 1947 on the corner of Avenida da Liberdade, Ribadouro is Lisbon's classic cervejaria-marisqueira: lobster and crab from live tanks, prawns, percebes and steak with house sauce served by white-jacketed waiters at a buzzy counter and tables. It is the authentic version of the seafood beer-hall archetype, with a summer terrace under the plane trees. A working institution, not a tourist set piece.
