Set among Puente Romano's award-winning tropical gardens beside the historic Roman bridge that gives the resort its name, Serafina is the genuine Italian kitchen in La Plaza. Wood-fired pizzas, fresh pasta and Fiorentina steaks come out of an open kitchen onto a leafy alfresco terrace. Lively but warm, and a notch above the resort's franchise neighbours.

Of all the La Plaza dining-and-drinking spots, this is the one with an actual kitchen worth sitting down for. Ask for a garden-terrace table.
