FACIL

FACIL occupies a glass-walled pavilion on the fifth floor of the Mandala Hotel above Potsdamer Platz, with a courtyard atrium that lets in light from four sides. Michael Kempf has held the kitchen since 2003 and the second Michelin star since 2014; the cooking is modern-European with a defined Mediterranean lean, tasting menus run six or eight courses, and a vegetable-led parallel menu is offered. The dining room reads as a stone-and-glass garden — the most architecturally distinct room in Berlin's two-star tier, and the antidote to the city's tendency toward brutalist counter-format dining.
