Koum Kapi sits just east of the old walls, where the Sabbionara gate opens onto a strip of seafront that has become Chania's casual evening haunt. It is younger and breezier than the old town — beach bars, coffee places and meze spots line the waterfront, and the crowd skews local and after-work rather than sightseeing. You come here for a long coffee or a sundowner with the sea in front of you, then graze on small plates as the night goes on.
