1786 tasting-room brown café on the Egelantiersgracht
A working jenever distillery founded in 1724 (in a 1679 building) down a narrow alley, where some 70 varieties of jenever and traditional Dutch liqueurs are still produced and poured in a tiny, beautifully preserved proeflokaal. The ritual — bend down, no hands, slurp from the brimming tulip glass — is the genuine article. A living institution, not a 'cheese-and-stroopwafel experience.'
