Former 1890 Swiss brewery reborn as a cultural complex with bars, venues, and studios
Bomonti grew up around the Bomonti Beer Factory, founded by Swiss brothers in 1890 as the Ottoman Empire's first industrial brewery. When the brewery shut down, its red-brick halls were converted into Bomontiada, a cultural complex housing a church, concert venue, and courtyard restaurants. The surrounding blocks of Şişli have filled in with design studios, specialty coffee roasters, and the Hilton Bomonti tower, making the area a creative counterweight to nearby Nişantaşı.
