Wiltons
St James's
Since 1742, Jermyn Street oysters, game in season, and a clubland Britain that has stopped existing almost everywhere else.
Angela Hartnett's one-star Italian on Queen Street, the civilised Mayfair lunch the neighbourhood's regulars actually keep.
Hartnett's twenty-year-old room sits on a quiet corner of Queen Street and trades on something rarer than spectacle: consistency. The cooking is northern Italian filtered through a long London career, handmade pastas, considered fish, a wine list that has aged into authority. The set lunch remains one of the best-value Michelin meals in W1.
Take the three-course set lunch on a weekday, far better value than the tasting and you keep the afternoon. Ask for a corner table; the centre of the room can feel exposed.
