Kilyos (Kumköy) sits at Istanbul's Black Sea edge, a 30-minute drive north of Sarıyer where the Bosphorus opens into open water. For generations it has been the city's summer escape — wide sandy beaches, beach clubs with DJ lineups, and seafood shacks at the Rumeli Feneri end. The season is short and intense: June through September the road fills on weekends with Istanbulites heading for Solar, Suma, and Milyon, then falls quiet again until next summer.
