Zeyrek

Zeyrek climbs the slope above the Golden Horn between Fatih and Unkapanı, anchored by the 12th-century Pantokrator Monastery (now Molla Zeyrek Mosque), a UNESCO-listed Byzantine landmark. The neighborhood retains its tight grid of late-Ottoman wooden houses, narrow lanes and low-rise courtyards, and is best known today for the recently restored Zeyrek Çinili Hamamı and its quiet, off-the-tourist-track atmosphere.
