A privately owned 337-room palace on Promenadeplatz that has anchored Munich society for nearly two centuries — the unofficial headquarters of the Munich Security Conference and the city's most quietly powerful address. Five restaurants and six bars sit under one roof, including Atelier (two Michelin stars), the Garden brasserie, Trader Vic's tiki basement, falk's Bar, and the Falkenturm rooftop with its glass-domed pool. Volker Staab's mirrored Komödie theatre and Axel Vervoordt-touched suites give the property a serious art-and-architecture pedigree. If you book one Munich hotel for a first visit, this is the one.
