Nobu Matsuhisa's only German room; Japanese-Peruvian inside Mandarin Oriental.
Matsuhisa Munich is the only German outpost of Nobu Matsuhisa's Japanese-Peruvian fusion, set on the lower level of the Mandarin Oriental in the Altstadt. The dining room is sleek and low-lit; an eight-seat live counter lets you watch the chefs work, and a semi-private nook of about ten covers handles the omakase menu. The signatures are the ones you know — black cod with miso, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, Peruvian-style rib-eye anticucho — alongside a full sushi programme prepared from fish flown in regularly. Service is formal-international rather than Bavarian; expect a room full of Mandarin guests, visiting business travellers, and Munich's hotel-restaurant regulars. Not a discovery, but the most reliable high-end Japanese in the city.
