Sumahan on the Water
19th-century raki distillery on the Asian shore
Asian-side Bosphorus village famous for its cucumber, tea gardens, and Kuleli views
Çengelköy is known for the small cucumber that carries its name and for a waterfront lined with tea gardens looking straight across at Bebek. The old village square, centred on the 1854 Çengelköy Mosque, still hosts a weekly market and the kind of plane-tree-shaded çay bahçesi Istanbul has mostly lost elsewhere. A short walk up the hill leads to Kuleli, the Ottoman-era military high school whose long white facade is one of the most recognisable silhouettes on the Asian shore.
