The Goring opened in 1910 and is still owned and run by the founding family, four generations on, the last family-owned five-star hotel in London. It is the only hotel ever granted a royal warrant, held under Queen Elizabeth II from 2013 onward, and it is where Catherine Middleton stayed the night before her 2011 wedding. The Dining Room by Stuart Tattersall holds a Michelin star; the garden is the only proper hotel garden in central London. The choice for the audience that wants the most unbroken thread of Britishness still intact in W1, it is what Claridge's once was, before Claridge's went global.
