KaDeWe Feinschmecker-Etage
Continental Europe's largest department-store food hall — sixth floor of the Kaufhaus des Westens.
West Berlin classical — Kurfürstendamm, Savignyplatz, KaDeWe, Café Einstein, the older register.
Charlottenburg is West Berlin's classical core — the Kurfürstendamm boulevard, the Schloss Charlottenburg palace and gardens, Savignyplatz and its bookshop-and-bistro grid, KaDeWe's sixth-floor food hall on the Schöneberg edge, and the Bleibtreustraße restaurant axis. The gezgin uses Charlottenburg for the older-Berlin register: hotel-restaurant lunches at the Kempinski and Waldorf Astoria, the Vienna-style coffee-house mornings at Café Einstein Stammhaus, the Savignyplatz long dinner. Less self-conscious than Mitte, more continuous with the pre-Wall city.
