Café Nicola
Baixa & Rossio
Art Deco Rossio café with a literary past since 1929
1905 Chiado coffeehouse, Pessoa's old terrace
Opened in 1905 and protected as a property of public interest, A Brasileira is one of only three Lisbon cafes to span the whole twentieth century. The carved-wood and brass interior and the bronze Pessoa statue at the door make it a literary landmark; order a bica at the counter where the writers sat. A civic institution to experience for the room, not the terrace upsell.
