Breizh Café
Le Marais
Bertrand Larcher's original Paris crêperie — Bordier butter, Breton cider, Tokyo-trained discipline.
Since 1979 on rue des Rosiers — the Pletzl falafel sandwich Lenny Kravitz and Natalie Portman keep coming back for.
L'As du Fallafel has been making the same sandwich on rue des Rosiers since 1979 — a kosher Tunisian-Jewish institution in the heart of the Pletzl, the Marais's historic Jewish quarter. Crisp herb-flecked chickpea balls, fried eggplant, harissa, tahini, hummus, cabbage, a warm pita that holds it all together for exactly the time it takes to walk down the street. Two queues: takeaway on the left (faster, eaten on the move), dine-in on the right (slower, fluorescent-lit, faster than you'd think). Lenny Kravitz photo on the wall; Natalie Portman called it her favourite Paris meal in 2024. There is no debate about which falafel — there is just this falafel, and the others.
Cult flag. Get takeaway, eat walking. Closed Friday evening and Saturday for Shabbat.
