Alsergrund

Alsergrund — the 9. Bezirk — is Vienna's university quarter. The main campus of the Universität Wien sits at its southern edge, the Allgemeines Krankenhaus medical complex covers most of its centre, and Berggasse 19 — Sigmund Freud's apartment and the museum that grew from it — anchors the cultural register. The gezgin uses Alsergrund for the post-Freud-museum lunch, the academic-press café where students still read on paper, and the Servitenviertel — a tight cobbled pocket around the Servitenkirche with five or six restaurants serving the campus's senior end. Less polished than the Innere Stadt, more readable than the suburbs.
