The Goring opened in 1910 and is still owned and run by the founding family, four generations on — the last family-owned five-star hotel in London. It is the only hotel ever granted a royal warrant, held under Queen Elizabeth II from 2013 onward, and it is where Catherine Middleton stayed the night before her 2011 wedding. The Dining Room by Stuart Tattersall holds a Michelin star; the garden is the only proper hotel garden in central London. The choice for the audience that wants the most unbroken thread of Britishness still intact in W1 — it is what Claridge's once was, before Claridge's went global.
