Design + nightlife south of centre — Gärtnerplatz, indie kitchens
Glockenbach sits south of Altstadt around the Glockenbach stream and the Gärtnerplatz square — Munich's design-and-LGBT quarter, where the indie restaurants, third-wave coffee, vinyl bars and small-plate kitchens cluster. Less buttoned-up than Altstadt-Lehel and quieter than Schwabing's main strip, the gezgin uses Glockenbach for the relaxed dinner that does not need a Maximilianstraße jacket — and for the late drinks that follow.
