On the water's edge of antique Erythrai — three generations of family balıkçı in the peninsula's quiet north
Ildırı is a small fishing village; Erythrai's antique city sits just above. Ali'nin Yeri stands on the harbour edge — a classic Çeşme fish house run for three generations by the same family, stone-walled room, tables touching the water, sunset framed by the Sakız silhouette to the west, historically a postcard. Octopus and calamari are second-nature work; the meze line is long, the fish is from the day's boat. By August Istanbul yacht traffic has found it and the price reflects that, but in May and September it is still the quiet escape Çeşmeli yazlıkçıs reach for.
