Koşuyolu
Koşuyolu's Aegean meyhane, a proper meze cabinet and a neighborhood that keeps it to itself.
A three-storey mansion off Kadıköy's beaten track, meze-first, with a garden of old Turkish records.
Maşuk works out of an old three-storey mansion on Karadut Sokak, far enough from the çarşı circuit that the room belongs to people who meant to come. The kitchen is meze-first: atom, Girit ezmesi, fava, stuffed mussels and calamari, the paçanga and pastırmalı humus that anchor the table. The garden plays old Turkish records and takes the summer shift. Forbes named it among Kadıköy's five best meyhanes for the quality of the mezes and the rakı selection, which matches what the regulars have been saying for years.
Ask for the garden in season and start from the cold case: the atom and Girit ezmesi first, the stuffed calamari when they have it. There is a fixed menu that covers mezes, a hot starter, and the main with rakı; it is honest value, but ordering the case a la carte is the fuller version of the place.
