Founded in 1732 and Guinness-recognised as the oldest bookshop still trading, Bertrand's Chiado flagship has occupied the same Rua Garrett address since 1773. Vaulted, tiled rooms run deep with Portuguese and international titles and a small cafe at the back. A living cultural landmark rather than a museum piece.
