Steirereck im Stadtpark

Heinz and Birgit Reitbauer's Steirereck moved from Landstraße to the Meierei pavilion inside the Stadtpark in 2005 and has held three Michelin stars in the Austria 2026 guide alongside two Gault-Millau toques. The room reads modern-Austrian rather than French-classical: vegetable lineages traced to a single Steiermark grower, fish from Carinthian lakes, dairy from the Reitbauer family's own farm at Pogusch. The eight-course tasting menu is built around the season's clearest ingredient — wild garlic in April, the white-asparagus week in May, woodcock in autumn — and the wine list (one of the deepest in Europe) leans hard on small Austrian growers. The Stadtpark setting is its own argument: a glass pavilion at the city's most central park, the Wien river running underneath, a one-Michelin-star Meierei downstairs serving the most ambitious cheese cellar in the German-speaking world.
