Melih Teksen's twenty-five-year Alaçatı kitchen, now plated on a terrace inside Buradan's vine rows at sunset
Organic Grenache rosé and Tempranillo grown six kilometres of stone-terraced slope above the village, tasted facing Chios
Buradan is the working winery behind the Çeşme/Alaçatı wine name: organic, drip-irrigated vines on the terraced slopes of Ovacık, with a chateau-style cellar of French oak and cooled steel surrounded by the rows it bottles. The house style runs to a Grenache rosé and a light Tempranillo red rather than blockbuster reds, and tastings are arranged directly with the estate so the visit stays small and unhurried. A 'Women in Wine' programme staffs the operation roughly four-fifths with women and funds an annual scholarship, which tells you the place is built on conviction, not marketing. The valley terrace looks west to Chios island and the sunset, and Agrilia's kitchen now lives on the same land.
