Onassis Cultural Centre rooftop, Tasos Mantis' one-Michelin modern-Greek tasting room.
Koukaki rising small-plate room, modern-Greek, Acropolis-side, the chapter's Koukaki anchor.
Diodos Athinaion, 'Athenian passage', opened on Drakou in Koukaki in 2019, two streets from the Acropolis Museum, and has functioned since as the Koukaki rising-restaurant anchor: a small-plate format, modern-Greek grammar with a Mediterranean openness (Pelion mushrooms, Manaki olive oil from Lakonia, Cretan greens and feta brought up by the chef's family), a wine list run heavy on Greek-island whites. The dining room is twenty-eight seats, neutral palette, the kind of room that reads as Koukaki rather than as a hotel-restaurant. Locals use Diodos as the Koukaki dinner, pair with an Acropolis Museum afternoon for the structural three-hour Koukaki evening.
Book a week ahead for Friday/Saturday. Wine list leans Greek-island whites, ask for the Limnio reds or the Santorini Assyrtiko by the glass rather than the international corner.
