Bavarian Wirtshaus on the palace canal — deeded by Elector Karl Albrecht in 1730
The first surviving Metzgerwirt document is a 1730 deed of gift from Elector Karl Albrecht to the butcher Adam Seyfried — three centuries on the palace canal, sun-yellow façade, red wicker chairs at small bistro tables on the towpath. Head chef Thomas Wendel runs the Bavarian canon straight: oven-fresh Schweinsbraten with dumplings, breaded schnitzel with roasted potatoes, onion roast beef. The 2018 renovation refreshed the dining rooms without ironing out the rustic — same wood, same beams, working kitchen.
If Schlosswirtschaft Schwaige is fully booked or the audience wants the towpath rather than the courtyard, this is the chapter's straight Bavarian answer. The 1730 deed is real — Bayerisches Hauptstaatsarchiv on file.
