Sébastien Gaudard Pâtisserie des Tuileries
Saint-Honoré & Palais-Royal
Classical French pâtisserie under the Pyramides arcades — tea room facing the Tuileries
1927 Trocadéro tea-room — marble tables, white aprons, view across to the Tower.
Jean and Madeleine Carette opened this Place du Trocadéro tea-room in 1927 and the 1930s appearance has held: marble tables, original mirrors, white-aproned waitresses, an extended terrace with the Eiffel Tower across the square. The patisserie made its name on macarons, the éclair au chocolat, the Saint-Honoré and the Carette signature; the brasserie kitchen runs all-day from breakfast through dinner. Sortir à Paris and the Hotels Paris Rive Gauche guide both rate it as the institution-of-record on the 16e bank of the Seine. For an Istanbul visitor crossing from Eiffel Tower viewpoint to Passy, Carette is the lunch — and the macaron box to take back.
Cult-institution exception (1927, 98 years continuous). Terrace seat for the Tower view.
