Paulaner am Nockherberg

Paulaner brewed its first Salvator doppelbock on the Nockherberg in 1773, and the Brauhaus on Hochstraße remains the brewery's home wirtshaus — the same hill that hosts the Starkbierfest each Lent. The kitchen runs the Munich classics (Schweinsbraten, roast duck, Apfelstrudel) at honest portions, the self-service beer garden opens whenever the weather allows, and the upper Au location keeps the room mostly Bavarian rather than tour-bus.
