Chef-driven Italian on the ninth floor of the Swissôtel
The city's ceremonial square and transit hinge, with the clock tower and gulf-side tea gardens.
Konak is the civic and ceremonial centre of the city, the square with the ornate clock tower where ferries, the metro and the bazaar all converge. It is more a place you pass through and linger in briefly than one you dine in heavily, but the waterfront edge has tea gardens and simple seafront cafés with gulf views. Just uphill you reach the museums, the kemeraltı entrance and the climb toward Kadifekale. Treat it as the hinge between the bazaar, the sea and the rest of the centre.
