Vits der Kaffee
Isarvorstadt-Gärtnerplatz
Munich's third-wave coffee pioneer, roasting on Rumfordstraße since 2007.
Scandinavian-inflected roastery on the Maxvorstadt-Neuhausen edge — one of two Loring roasters in Germany.
Peter Schlögl, Sebastian Lösch and Mojgan Ensafi opened Mahlefitz in 2014 with one of only two Loring smart-roasters in Germany — the Californian rig that lets them roast clean, bright, and juicy in the Nordic style. The cafe on Nymphenburger Straße runs Scandinavian in look and approach: pale wood, white tile, single-origin filter as the main event. Their beans go out to coffee shops from London to Budapest. Quieter than MVSM and Vits, which makes it the room to come to if you want to actually read for an hour.
On the Nymphenburger axis — combine with a morning at Schloss Nymphenburg before lunch at Metzgerwirt. The roastery is in the back of the shop; you can usually see the Loring through the glass while it runs.
