Standing-only wine bar since the 1930s — Franconian whites, no chairs
Ninety years on the same Neuhausen corner, this standing-only wine bar — a Stehausschank in the proper Munich sense, no chairs, just a counter and three small tables you switch between — is run by Doris Demel and Christian Molter, regulars who took it over from the previous owner in 2021. Franconian Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau by the glass, schmalz or liverwurst sandwiches off the wooden board, occasionally kale with brain sausage when Christian is in the mood. The kind of place where you go alone on a Wednesday, leave with three new acquaintances, and never quite worked out what year it was inside.
No chairs by design. Franconian Silvaner is the order. Wednesday-evening regulars who'll talk to anyone.
