Israeli-German owners, Munich's best hummus on Metzstrasse
David and his German partner opened Nana on Metzstrasse with one ambition: cook the Tel Aviv table they grew up at. Hummus in five preparations (the masabacha is the move), shakshuka in a cast-iron pan, mezze that lean toward pickled cabbage with apple and nectarine on one side, baba ghanoush on the other. The wine list is short, Israeli-and-Lebanese-led, fair. Twenty-five seats, walls in white and turquoise, the feel of a friend's dining room in Florentin. Munich's most quietly cosmopolitan dinner.
Sunday brunch is the Munich-best shakshuka. Reservation needed Fri-Sat. Order three mezze per two people, then the hummus, then a main.
