Ed Tuttle's contemporary palace on rue de la Paix, five Haussmannian buildings stitched into one, sits a thirty-second walk from Place Vendôme and the Opéra Garnier. Awarded Palace classification, the 131 rooms and 38 suites lean restrained-modern (limestone, dark wood, contemporary art on every floor) rather than Belle Époque pastiche. Pur' carries one Michelin star under chef Jean-François Rouquette (open kitchen, intimate room); Les Orchidées does the all-day brasserie role under a glass roof. The 250-square-metre spa is one of the calmer central-Paris options bookable by non-guests.
