Kreuzberg
Kreuzberg's 1891 covered market — Thursday Street Food evenings, weekly produce.
Berlin's Vienna-style Kaffeehaus on Kurfürstenstraße — 1978, in a 1907 villa.
Café Einstein Stammhaus is the Vienna-style coffee house that opened in 1978 in a 1907 villa on Kurfürstenstraße in the Schöneberg-Tiergarten border — silver-tray Wiener Melange service, marble tables, the original parquet, a separate winter-garden and a back terrace facing the villa garden. The Apfelstrudel is the marker order, the Tafelspitz lunch is the second. The room reads as the West-Berlin intellectual-class living room that the audience inherits — Christopher Isherwood would have recognised the format. Sister branch Café Einstein Unter den Linden in Mitte is the East-side outpost; Stammhaus is the original.
Stammhaus is the original (1978, in the 1907 villa); Unter den Linden is the 1996 East-side branch. For the audience the older one is the meaningful booking.
