House of Small Wonder
Mitte
Mitte's Japanese-cafe brunch on Johannisstraße — the Berlin original of the Brooklyn import.
Mitte's hidden-courtyard third-wave brunch — Münzstraße 21.
Father Carpenter is the courtyard café off Münzstraße in Mitte — you walk through a passage that does not announce the room, into a small cobbled inner courtyard, and find a thirty-seat all-day café with strong third-wave coffee, an Antipodean-influenced brunch menu (the Australian-Berlin brunch register the city did so much to import in the 2010s), and a back terrace that fills by 10:00 on weekends. The format works as the morning meeting room and the between-bookings brunch room.
The courtyard entrance is the point; the room itself is small. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 are the busy stretches.
