Bonanza Coffee Roasters
Prenzlauer Berg
Prenzlauer Berg's 2006 third-wave origin roastery — Oderberger Straße.
Mitte's Auguststraße third-wave roastery — Ralf Rüller, 2010.
The Barn is the third-wave coffee roastery Ralf Rüller opened on Auguststraße in 2010 — one of the most influential operations in European third-wave, the roaster behind several of Berlin's better cafés and the model many German roasteries built around. The Auguststraße flagship has limited seating, the espresso is calibrated daily, the bean-take-home programme runs all year. The Schönhauser Allee Prenzlauer Berg branch is the larger café-format outlet. For the audience this is the coffee booking that pairs with a Hamburger Bahnhof gallery morning or a Hackescher Markt walking afternoon.
Order the filter — the rotation reads what the roaster is excited about that week. The Auguststraße flagship is the original; the Schönhauser branch is the larger sit-down format.
