Five Elephant is the Kreuzberg roastery Kris and Sophie Schackman opened on Reichenberger Straße — the third-wave programme is the technical work, but the cheesecake the kitchen makes (Philadelphia-style, the wider audience now travels for it) is the populist hook. The Mitte branch on Zionskirchstraße is the second outlet. The format is small, the seating fills by 10:00 on weekends, and the roastery side of the operation is the more meaningful part for the third-wave-coffee audience.
