Newton Bar

Newton Bar on Charlottenstraße in Mitte (a block off Gendarmenmarkt) is the grand cocktail bar opened in 1999 around a collection of Helmut Newton's photography — large-format black-and-white prints covering the back wall, marble bar, the classical-cocktail format Berlin built in the 1990s reconstruction era. The format reads as the older audience's pre- or post-Konzerthaus-am-Gendarmenmarkt cocktail booking, the post-Borchardt nightcap room, and the Schauspielhaus visiting-business-class default. Less self-conscious than Buck and Breck; older in clientele than Fragrances.
