Two Michelin stars and Austrian-modern technique on the Landwehrkanal.
Two Michelin stars and Asian-modern technique behind Checkpoint Charlie.
Tim Raue runs Berlin's most-photographed two-star room on Rudi-Dutschke-Straße, a quiet block off the Checkpoint Charlie axis. The cooking is his signature Asian-modern programme — Cantonese precision, Japanese seasonality, Thai aromatic structure, no flour, no dairy, no European-classical reduction. The tasting menus run six to eight courses; an à la carte option remains, which is unusual for a two-star kitchen. Raue trained at La Soupière in Berlin and at the Adlon before opening his own room in 2010; the stars arrived in 2012 and 2013 and have held ever since.
Book four to six weeks ahead. Lunch is the cheat code — same kitchen, shorter menu, easier table. Tim Raue is one of the most televised German chefs (Netflix Chef's Table episode in 2018) — for the audience it is a known name from the start.
