Alaçatı
The original sakızlı muhallebi house, the recipe the rest of the country has spent twenty years trying to copy
The Demirel family's handmade Alaçatı patisserie, a quiet bakery counter the village uses for birthdays it actually means
Alaköy works the slow patisserie line out of a small Alaçatı corner, handmade tarts, a short cake list rotated by the season, a proper sakız-cevizli kurabiye and the village's reference birthday cake. The Demirel family runs the counter, supplying their own three locations across Alaçatı, Alsancak and Çeşme Marina; the Alaçatı shop is the one with the morning baking and the regular foot traffic. No buffet, no brunch theatre, a clean glass case and a kitchen behind it.
Sakız-cevizli kurabiye and a small lemon tart, eaten on the bench outside before the village wakes. Order a special-occasion cake forty-eight hours ahead; the kitchen does not rush them.
