Schwabing
Schwabing steakhouse on Leopoldstraße — top-50 in Germany.
Royal-court Indian fine dining in Schwabing-West.
The Indian Room is the most considered Indian dining experience in Munich — a fine-dining room on Belgradstraße in Schwabing-West built around the courtly cooking traditions of Lucknow, Hyderabad, and Rajasthan rather than the curry-house default that dominates the city. The kitchen takes heritage seriously: slow-cooked dum biryani, kebabs from a proper sigri grill, dal makhani held overnight, and a vegetarian programme that reads as carefully as the meat side. The room itself is dim, gold-accented, more dinner-out than tandoori-takeaway, and the wine list takes Indian food seriously enough to pair Riesling and Pinot Noir against it. The address Munich's Indian-food regulars send their visiting families to.
Order the dum biryani — they cook it sealed under bread, the way it should be done — and a tandoori starter to share. The vegetarian thali is the right call if half your table doesn't eat meat. Book ahead on weekends; the room is small and Schwabing's Indian community has discovered it.
