La terraza de vermut de Sant Antoni que el barrio reivindica como propia
An Eixample-edge neighbourhood centred on its grand restored market and a relaxed café culture.
Sant Antoni sits on the edge of the Eixample grid but keeps a stronger neighbourhood texture, organised around its great restored market hall. The Mercat de Sant Antoni reopened after years of works that uncovered Roman and medieval remains beneath it, and it now anchors a Sunday book-and-collectors fair as well as the daily food trade. The surrounding streets have filled with cafés, wine bars and small kitchens without losing the long-time grocers and bars. It offers the order of the Eixample with a warmer, more lived-in feel.
