Arven Alaçatı
Alaçatı
Two hundred Turkish bottles in a pomegranate garden behind a 150-year-old house, wine boutique and kitchen under the same roof
Aegean meze read off both shores, served in a courtyard tucked between two 1850s Greek stone houses
Fava opened in 2018 in the gap between two 165-year-old Greek houses on Kemalpaşa, with a secluded stone courtyard that stays calm even when the bazaar outside is at full August volume. The kitchen builds its meze and fish from local producers and a kitchen garden in Alaçatı, drawing as readily on Antakya's pantry as on the Aegean's, which gives the table a wider, more deliberate range than the standard village fish house. Signatures like the octopus tandır, fener kavurma and the herb-driven cold mezes are the reason people who live here treat it as the grown-up option among the bazaar rooms. It earns its keep on sourcing and craft rather than music or names at the next table.
