Kaffee Espresso Kolonial

An old-school coffeehouse on Donnersberger Straße that takes the word Kolonial seriously — the menu lists not just espresso and brew coffee but Turkish mocha, Greek mocha and Viennese melange side by side, each made the way it should be. Wooden tables, weekday papers, the sort of regulars who order without speaking. For an Istanbul cosmopolitan it is a rare thing in Munich: a Turkish mocha that arrives in a proper cezve cup, foamed thick, on a saucer with a sugar cube and a glass of water, no negotiation required.
