Isarvorstadt-Gärtnerplatz
Corner-site cocktail room and small-plates kitchen, Gärtnerplatz
Old-Town wine bar with deep list and sensible pricing
On Ledererstraße in the heart of the Altstadt, Grapes is the wine bar locals send you to when you don't want a fuss — a long bar, a few tables, a chalkboard of by-the-glass pours, and a backbone list strong on German, Austrian and Italian small growers without the markup that the Maximilianstraße hotels charge. The kitchen does charcuterie, cheese, a few hot plates designed to feed the wine rather than upstage it. Comfortable for a solo glass at the bar and equally workable for a four-person dinner that rolls into a second bottle. The honest middle of Munich's wine-bar scene.
Walk-in friendly before 19:00, busier after. Ask what's open by the glass that night — the rotation is deliberate, not a default selection.
