falk's Bar
Altstadt-Lehel
Cocktails in the 1839 hall of mirrors that survived the war intact.
The last surviving original tiki bar in the world, basement of the Bayerischer Hof.
Opened for the 1972 Munich Olympics in the basement of the Bayerischer Hof, Trader Vic's is the only original-fit-out tiki bar still operating worldwide — Tahitian and Hawaiian carvings, Luzon shells, hand-painted Fijian tikis, all of it from when the chain was still personally specified. The drinks programme treats the canon (Mai Tai, Fog Cutter, Scorpion) as a discipline rather than a joke; the food crosses Hawaii, India, and Polynesia and is meaningfully better than tiki convention. Recently refurbished. The room is open evenings only and gets atmospheric around 22:00.
Skeptical-Istanbul-guest test: order the Mai Tai, watch the room. Skepticism evaporates in about ninety seconds. Menehune Bar is the connected lounge if the main room is full.
