Spatenhaus an der Oper
Altstadt-Lehel
The Bavarian classic across from the Opera, two floors of it.
Open-fire grill and pasta counter under the Marstall's columned hall.
Since 2003 Brenner has occupied the listed columned hall of the former royal Marstall on Maximilianstraße — twenty-metre ceilings, an open grill in the centre of the main room, a separate counter where the pasta is hand-rolled daily, and a cocktail bar at the front. The kitchen runs from breakfast through past midnight, which is unusual at this address; the menu is grill-led (steak, fish, lamb chops) with the pasta as a parallel offer. Crowd is even — operagoers, hotel guests, the Maximilianstraße shopping circuit, and anyone who wants a serious kitchen at 23:00.
Across from the Bavarian State Opera and the Vier Jahreszeiten — the natural neutral ground when nobody can agree on a tasting menu. Breakfast here is its own argument.
